A breast cancer survivor, Catherine
McGrath developed A Little Easier
Recovery, a nonprofit company that offers
unique
clothing and gifts designed for breast cancer
patients. Its mission is to make it a little
easier and more comfortable for women’s
plight through treatment and recovery.
The signature item, the Jacki recovery
jacket, was designed under the premise “What
would Jackie O.
wear?” It is made from the finest of
materials and with features that bring optimum comfort and
functionality for patients. The company donates Jacki recovery
jackets to breast health centers for nurses and doctors to distribute.
McGrath and her co-worker, Maureen Cardinal, are responsible for
the fundraising, purchasing of materials, production and delivery of
the jackets. This year, they donated 350 jackets to area hospitals.
McGrath also donates Jackis for raffle items at various fundraisers
including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Celebration of
Life and events hosted by the Boston Oncology Nurse Society and
the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden.
McGrath’s previous work experience includes an 18-year career
in sales, marketing and direct-mail advertising for accounts such as
Dunkin Donuts, Mass. Lottery and BJ’s Wholesale Club.
