A self-described nurturing and forthright
individual, Mary Hargraves says she is
happiest when being of service or help to
another individual. A 23-year employee of
GE Aviation, Hargraves currently serves as a
lead professional for senior configuration
control spec engineering and product
development. She adeptly balances
performance and teamwork with a strong
commitment to community and family.
Hargraves began her GE career as a technician for proposal
writing. Today, she is a GE Aviation Master Greenbelt and was
nominated for the GE Philippe Award.
Committed to volunteerism, Hargraves became actively involved
10 years ago in the GE initiative to organize a sustainable volunteer
effort in Lynn. The company now has more than 75 active programs
in the community with more than 1,000 volunteers.
Hargraves implemented the Adopt-a-School program, partnering
sections of GE with an elementary school in critical need. Through
this effort, she has partnered seven Lynn Public Schools with GE
Aviation volunteers. She has also helped facilitate partnerships
between the schools and Gordon College, Boston Museum of
Science, Northeastern University and NASA.
