Johannah Conway
The New Essex Office, Inc.

An accomplished saleswoman and devoted mother, Johannah Conway has been improving women’s business relations in the workplace since she was 22. Starting as a customer service representative in the office supplies industry, she steadily climbed the corporate ladder while raising a family. Two of her major accomplishments are being the first female recognized by Corporate Express for earning more than $1 million in sales, and more recently, becoming the independent owner of the New Essex Office, Inc., an office-supplies business.

In its fourth year of business, The New Essex has grown from an 11-employee start-up company to a 70-employee operation. Conway has served as the office, computer and furniture supply person since the company’s inception. This summer, she purchased the company and has since transformed its level of customer service.

Conway plans to keep The New Essex as a female-owned company but is looking into possible mergers with other small businesses that share her vision. She participates in the Women in Networking Giving Support organization she helped to organize that aims to promote cooperation in the workplace.
